How to charge a JUUL with iPhone charger

When you say iPhone charger, it actually means the entire package, including the cable and the power adapter. So, you can use your iPhone’s USB power adapter to connect your JUUL device charger. However, let’s say for some reason you lost your JUUL’s USB charger or damaged it somehow and don’t want to purchase a new one yet. What would you do then?

If you have some old iPhone USB charger cable lying around, you could try using it. And we are going to show you the step-by-step process on how to create a makeshift JUUL charger with your old iPhone charger cable.

Here’s how to charge a JUUL with iPhone charger:

cutting iPhone charger cable with scissors

Step 1:

Take your old iPhone USB charger cable and, with the help of a scissor, cut off the lightning connector end of the cable. You can cut off from the end part of the cable, or if you want a shorter cable, you could cut off close to the USB end of the cable.

*Don’t start cutting the wires while the cable is connected with a power supply. You might get electrocuted. Make sure that the cable is disconnected before attempting to cut the cable.

Strip the cable to expose the wires inside.

Step 2:

Now that you’ve cut off the lightning connector end of the cable, you have to strip off some plastic cable to expose the wires inside. For this, you need to use the scissor again and remove maybe half or one inch of the cable. You’ll see red, black, white, and green wires.

Cut the Red & Black wires to expose the copper wires inside

Step 3:

Next, you have to separate the four wires and then cut off the white and green wires with the scissor. Or you could leave them as it is, as you won’t be using them. Then use your scissor again to strip the red and black wires to expose the copper wires inside.

*Sometimes, the four wires will be inside a silver casing. In that case, you’d have to remove that casing with your scissors.

Connect the red & black wires with JUUL's bottom charging pin

Step 4:

The Red wire is the “Positive” wire, and the black wire is the “Negative” one. So, now the next step for you would be to connect these wires with your JUUL device. So, try to connect the red and black wires to your JUUL device’s bottom left and right ports. Place your JUUL on a flat surface with the light facing up to check whether it is charging. Next, connect the USB end of the cable to a power adapter or a portable battery to check whether the JUUL is charging. If you see a “green” light flashing, then the JUUL is charging.

* Connecting the USB end of the cable to your laptop or any other device may cause a short circuit and damage it.

Step 5:

Once you are sure that your JUUL is charging, then tape the exposed wires. After that, place your JUUL device and your charger in such a way that it continues to charge without any interruption. However, it would be best if you don’t leave your JUUL device unattended when charging with this new charging cable.

Step 2: Next, strip the end of the cut cable to expose the wires inside. Once you’ve done that, you’ll see two wires, colored red and black. Sometimes there might be more than two colored wires. In such cases, either ignore or cut off the other wires. Then you should again use the scissor to strip away the plastic cover of the black and red wires to expose the inner copper wires.

Step 3: Now, you have to connect the red and black wires with your JUUL device. The “Positive” wire is red, and the “Negative” wire is black. So, connect the red and black wire with the bottom left and right ports of your JUUL device.

Step 4: Next, keep the JUUL device on a flat surface with the light facing up, so you can see the flashing. After that, connect the USB of the cable to a portable battery or a USB power adapter and check whether your JUUL is charging.
